I'm a researcher at Anthropic, where I've worked since 2022. With my wife, Nova DasSarma, I co-founded Hofvarpnir Studios, a non-profit that provides compute and infrastructure to AI safety researchers.
Before that I was a theoretical physicist, with a PhD at UC San Diego and a postdoc at UC Riverside. I worked between condensed matter and high energy theory, mostly on theories of exotic states of matter. I'm also an amateur mountaineer and rock climber, mainly in the Sierra and the Cascades.
